Tomatoes are Delicious

I just updated my router (Linksys WRT54GL) with the Tomato Firmware. Here are my initial observations:

The upgrade was much faster and easier than I was anticipating. After writing down some settings I had with the default firmware, I flashed the router. A couple minutes later, I was in the tomato interface completing the last of [...]

California Trip

Janna and I (and Janna’s mom) spent last week in California hanging out with our niece and nephews while their parents were out of town.  We had a lot of fun, and did neat things, like going to Death Valley, Hollywood, and  seeing giant sequoia trees: things you don’t see in the Mid-South. Vote For Someone Else (.com)

Ever since it was pretty clear that Ron Paul would not be the Republican nominee, I’ve planned on voting for someone who is not John McCain or Barack Obama.  I’ve learned enough over the past year and a half to realize that neither of those represents the kind of change this country needs, and in [...]

We’re Moving!

Ron Paul

I’m not trying to jump on the Ron Paul web traffic wave… No really, I promise.
Ron Paul caught my attention after the last Republican debate. I started reading up on him and watching videos of some of his speeches. Basically, he believes in the things that make this a great country, specifically the [...]

Using vim as a pager (in gentoo)

Wondering what the “vim-pager” use flag on app-editors/vim did, I gave it a shot. Turns out it gives you 2 extra commands: vimpager and vimmanpager. So adding

export MANPAGER=/usr/bin/vimmanpager

to your login script of choice (.bashrc works just fine), man will use vim as a pager, complete with systax highlighting and ability to use the [...]
